"How to write a suicide note," is the second book in the series Reflections America. The author Sherry Quan Lee took six years to complete his story. The book consists of a series of poignant essays. Ms. Lee is a Chinese / Black woman. His father was Chinese and his mother was black. She developed an identity crisis because she was told to pass off as white and if she could not do that, then it should say she is Chinese. This was to help her be more accepted in society. How sad it was because her Chinese father left the family when she was five, so she was not created as a part of their culture. His strong mother, who was left to raise five children alone, did not want her to accept the dark side of their culture. I felt it should have been very damaging, because his mother deserved to have their culture renowned for their children. This Mrs. Lee taught to feel invisible.
She writes that his attempts suicide were shouting to be heard. It also seemed that she was making attempts to kill parts of herself. When she began writing, she discovered that writing saves lives. It was healing for her to tell her story through her poetry. It is also the cure for people who read the works of Lee People who can relate their experience will find healing in knowing that they are not alone.
"How to write a suicide note" is an excellent reading choice for readers, especially women with multicultural training. I have friends from multicultural backgrounds who had difficulties with their educations and how they were accepted by others. At times they felt not accepted by anyone. One, a woman of 30 years, says that even today she is not sure what the box under "race." I think she will really be able to relate to Ms. Lee's story. I also think that women of all races is the testing movement. No matter what, we all want the same thing that Mrs. Lee did, in our core, which is to be loved and accepted.
Interview with author Tami Hoag
Which authors similar to Hoag, Islands, and Kellerman?
I'm thinking of getting my mom a couple of books together with a greater gift for Christmas, and she wrote some of his favorite authors to me: Greg Islands Tami Hoag Jonathan Kellerman Faye Kellerman She really enjoys the detective-novel genre type, but I never read the authors, so I have no idea what other books you'd like. Any ideas for authors and some great books for them? Thank you!
Try Sara Paretsky. She is very good and in the same genre. She writes a series about Warchowski VI.
