Low levels of literacy and Bible Engagement
Some groups of the population represented these audio Bibles have significant literacy rate is low.
For example, among those who speak quechua de San Martín, only 10% of the people can read their own language. In Nigeria, among the speakers IZERE, only 1% can read. In such groups of people, the truths of Scripture and hope are locked in written form.
Morgan Jackson, Faith Comes By Hearing International Director, said that statistics show the great need of the Word of God in a people can choose the audio format.
Faith Comes By Hearing's mission is to save the New Testament in 2000 languages and starting at 1.8 million Bible listening groups in 2016 to reach 50% of the world who are illiterate and live in deep poverty.
Audio Bibles for the poor and illiterate
Jackson said one of the first stories that captured his heart and stressed the need Audio Bibles for the poor and illiterate people from Spanish missionaries who distributed Bibles printed in Mexico.
"One missionaries on this trip looked up and saw a woman sitting on a bench with the open Bible on his head, he said. "She just cried, if the missionary was sitting beside her, and through his tears, he tried to explain what was wrong. She was crying and finally told him she knew not read. She said she knew that in this book were the words of life for herself and her family. She said she was praying to God to take these words on the pages and put them in her heart. "
A remote hilly areas to the prosperity of urban centers, this story is common. Half the world, approximately three billion people, is unable to read.
"Throughout the world there is a hunger to use these records because so people do not read, "Jackson said." Please help us reach the poor and illiterate with God's Word in audio. "
Is there any place where I can hear the Revelation or any other part of the Bible in audio, for free?
