Become a book editor?

For years I wanted to be a book publisher. I was good at English at school but never made a level. My level of English is pretty good though, and publish documents of knowledge for an IT company so having a good eye for punctuation, etc. I love to read and for years have thought that I would become a book editor. My problem is I do not know how to do this! I've seen that you can start taking courses in book publishing and I'm thinking of making one, but I have no idea of how to actually find work! Any ideas?

Miami, Florida and Hollywood, California may be on other sides of the country, nearly as far away as two US cities can possibly be. Geographically opposite, when it comes to television these two cities are a little closer; there is a bit of Hollywood inside Miami. Many television shows are filmed in the former, but set in the latter.
