In what year was the book Anne of Green Gables base?

what age one was supposed to be in Montgomery, when he wrote the book, I doubt that was 1908.

If you look at a calendar based on other books, Anne of Green Gables would have been around 1882. I thought the fact that the last of the series, Rilla of Ingleside, occurred during the First World War, the beginning of what was 1914. Early in the book, which was also around the beginning of the war, Hannah's son, Jem, was old enough to enlist, so I assumed it was 18 years. As I said in Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne was about 26 when she married, so I added 18 + 26, which was 44. I subtracted that amount in 1914, then added 11 which was many years Anne was the beginning of Anne of Green Gables. These numbers may be off by a little things because there was another in the stories I did not expect, but it must have been about 1882 or so.
