You should NOT get XP 64-bit, has much less driver and technical support from the other operating system, and is only less stable than Windows XP 32-bit. Vista Ultimate is a decent operating system, but you should really wait for Windows 7. New features make it much more convenient and accessible than Vista and XP. If you can not wait, then I suggest you get Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Vista would not really be a memory of "pig" considering the amount of RAM you have, and since SP1 and SP2 is much better received.
