Subliminal messages are suggestions that are offered below the level of consciousness.

These are messages that have the form of visual images or words spoken. Such suggestions are hidden in other forms of communication, such as images, movies, music or other sound files.

These suggestions are designed to bypass the ordinary consciousness perception and get a response from the subconscious.

Subliminal messages can be visual or auditory in nature and are designed to stimulate a response from the subconscious mind so it affects the thought processes and the decisions we make consciously. It is thought that they may have a positive or negative influence on the decisions of the person in contact with them and believes strongly influence the thoughts, beliefs, feelings and actions the most important!

The term derives from the Latin sub where subliminal means below the threshold means limen. Thus, the subliminal messages are suggestions that are received below the threshold.

They called the attention of the general public in the middle of last century. Back in 1957 a researcher named James Vicary conducted a highly controversial experiment in a local cinema. The popcorn and cola words were flashed during a movie for only a fraction of a second each. Vicary claimed that this sequence subliminal messages resulted in a large increase in sales for both products. This experiment has been discussed over many years and caused much disagreement in the scientific community.

The media attention led to the banning of subliminal messages in several countries including the USA and UK. However, Vicary later admitted that he falsified the data and results of the experiment. This brought the effectiveness of them dealing with something that has been aggravated because the experiment never Vicary was repeated successfully by anyone. In fact, many people believe Vicary not even perform the experiment at all!

So most people within the community science, concluded that subliminal messages have no effect on the brain and not enter into our consciousness at all.

In recent years, however, have been few high-level studies conducted by experienced researchers found that the subliminal messages to be much more effective than we were led to believe. Eg a highly respected research scientist, named Bahador Bahrami, the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London found such suggestions to grab the brain's attention!

In fact, there is a growing number of studies and mounting evidence to suggest that they affect us on a deep level of mind.

In 1958, a book by Wilson Bryan Key called Subliminal Seduction made statements that subliminal techniques were widely used in advertising. If you give a look on YouTube you will clearly see many examples of subliminal messages continue to be widely used in advertising today!

Subliminal messages, when used in marketing and advertising, can be seen (when indicated) to take the form of images. However, personal development and programs for self-improvement these messages are usually auditory in nature. The suggestions are recorded in an audible (you can hear it) volume, but become garbled when another band, as music or ocean waves, is added to the recording. This is known as a mask.

In some cases, they are added to the recording so that a message goes in one ear and another message enters the other ear. This technique is called stereo confusion and is popular in self improvement and many recordings hypnotherapy.

On some occasions are also presented to back what is known as back-masking. However, this technique is controversial and even many devout defenders of doubt the technology subliminal effectiveness. However, many people think that this approach is the most powerful of all, because it completes eliminates the chance that the consci smind will hear the messages. This leaves the powerful subconscious mind to listen and decipher the suggestions back to play. While the conscious mind is listening to music or sounds on the track of the subconscious is free to decode the suggestions back.

I have changed aspects of my own personality and made many leaps forward in my personal development through the use of subliminal technology. I therefore believe very strongly in their ability to create a profound change.

However, as with everything that is said in life, there's really only one way to get a clear view of the subliminal messages are effective and that is through experience! The only way you know for sure if you try them.
